A strong fair trade business sector is essential to the fair trade movement in Canada. For fair trade to be successful, fair trade products—coffee, tea, cocoa, produce, handmade goods, flowers, and more—must be available.

In Canada, the food distribution industry has great potential to support fair trade. We want to see fair trade products available through every type of food service company. This includes companies who sell fair trade brands, food service and distribution companies, and retailers and grocers.

We aim to grow fair trade business by focusing on the following five ways:

  1. Support fair trade businesses, with tools and resouces, and by creating connections
  2. Promote fully committed companies and brands
  3. Run trips to Origin
  4. Engage Food Service companies
  5. Push larger corporations on sourcing and offerings
