Jumping Bean Coffee
We roast and brew premium quality coffee with a focus on fair trade + eco2roast products. We are a purveyor of high quality teas, speciality oils, gourmet cooking products and cafe equipment for both personal and commercial use.
Our focus on community spirit is reflected in our fundraising campaigns, available nationwide. We are proud to support the communities where we operate and impact those beyond through our commitment to weaving fair trade products into our mix.
Jumping Bean Coffee® was founded in 2005 by engineer and coffee lover, Jeff LeDrew. A long time home roaster, Jeff had tinkered with his roaster to not only create our signature tastes, but make the whole process more efficient overall. Deeply involved with community and charity work, Jeff created what would become the first Jumping Bean roast as part of a charity fundraiser for the Rotary Club. This “Rotary Roast” was so popular and demand for this premium coffee was so rich that Jumping Bean Coffee was soon formed.
Jumping Bean Coffee® was founded on the philosophy that innovation and careful consideration can change the world. This values poster, Jumping Bean’s 7 Pillars, is posted over the milk counter in all our cafes:
1. Environmental Responsibility
2. Social Responsibility
3. Local= Better
4. Fresh Food, Fresh Coffee, Fresh Value
5. Diversity in Product Offering
6. Community Involvement
We all know CO2 is a major contributor to global warming, and the roasting process can produce an enormous amount of CO2 over the course of a year. One of Jumping Bean Coffee’s® founding pillars is a focus on environmental responsibility, so we not only offer the best blends and exotic single origin coffees available anywhere, but we also offer them all in our unique ECO2Roast® format.
That’s right, we have modified our roasting process to exact the same rich taste from our premium coffee, while producing 85% less CO2 emissions. This means that for every 1lb. (454 g) of ECO2Roast coffee we produce, you save the world about 1lb of carbon waste. In practical terms, this carbon footprint reduction is equivalent to a 60 watt light bulb burning 24 hours a day for 17 days straight. On a larger scale, the carbon footprint reduction from 300,000 pounds of ECO2Roast coffee is equivalent to taking roughly 3,000 cars off the road.
Couple that with our focus on Fair Trade and organic coffees wherever possible, and you have a truly guilt-free cup of coffee!
