Fair Trade Faith Group Program
The Fair Trade Faith Group Program encourages congregations to engage with a global movement that gives farmers and workers, their families and their communities the opportunity to build better and more sustainable lives. Your faith group is committed to the people, family and lives of the community it serves. It is a key driver of helping others through various events, activities and programs, and lends its voice and support to broader issues that concern all its congregants. Fair Trade Faith Group Requirements:
- Committee - A Fair Trade Committee must be formed by members and leaders of the congregation to ensure continued commitment to the Fair Trade Faith Group designation.
- Product Availability - There must be available for both congregants and visitors Fairtrade certified coffee, tea and a third product from a different category, such as sugar, chocolate, or bananas.
- Visibility and Awareness - The faith group must be promoting its fair trade commitment by having promotional and informational material available to both congregants and visitors.
Submitting an Application:
The Fair Trade Faith Group committee is responsible for meeting all requirements of the Fair Trade Faith Group Designation and for submitting the application. Fair Trade Faith Group Designations are awarded based on a joint review by Fairtrade Canada, the Canadian Fair Trade Network (CFTN) and the Association Québécoise du Commerce Équitable (AQCÉ).

Every Fair Trade Faith Group is required to submit its annual renewal by July 1 each year after its initial application. Click here to renew and receive the renewal certificate.
