Alternative Trade: Critical Approaches & New Directions in Trade and Development
Hosted by Saint Mary's University, Alternative Trade: Critical Approaches & New Directions in Trade and Development will discuss issues in North-South trade relations, while examining new approaches to cooperation in international trade and food security.
Gavin Fridell, Canada Research Chair in International Development Studies and Associate Professor at Saint Mary's University, will participate at the event.
"Over the past two decades, international trade has changed dramatically," says Fridell. "Conventional economic trade theory has been unable to account for the political, social, ideological, and ecological forces driving these new directions. Recognizing this, the workshop brings together scholars, activists, policy makers, and students from diverse backgrounds to develop a multi-faceted approach to trade and development for the twenty-first century."
Date: November 1 & 2, 2013
Place: Saint Mary’s University, Sobey School of Business, Room SB 160
