Thanks to our partners Chartwells and Choices Markets, the CFTN has put together an Advocacy Fund meant to support Fair Trade projects and events with grants ranging from $100 to $500. We are excited to announce that Fair Trade Winnipeg is the first recipient of one of the Advocacy Fund grants! Congratulations to the team and to all Manitobans who work tirelessly to increase their town’s, campus’, school’s, workplace’s, and faith group’s commitment to Fair Trade.

The grant will help support a fantastic Fair Trade Event taking place on October 3, 2018. “Near and Fair will bring together 150 ethically minded shoppers, students, local business owners, government representatives and members of civil society groups from across the province” to celebrate Manitoba’s connections and commitment to fair trade. Between hosts Fair Trade Winnipeg, Fair Trade Manitoba, and the Manitoba Council for International Co-operation, we know guests will be in the best possible hands and enjoy an entertaining, delicious, and ethical dinner. Julie Francoeur, executive director at Fairtrade Canada, and Sean McHugh, executive director of the CFTN, will also be attending.

Sound like something your organization would be interested in? We are accepting applications for grants from the Advocacy Fund on a rolling basis! For more information, please see https://cftn.ca/fair-trade-advocacy-fund.

If you’d like to participate in the Near and Fair event, please be in touch with Zack at fairtrade(at)mcic.ca

We look forward to hearing from you, and congratulations to all fair trade champions in Manitoba who put together this event!
